Tim Vickery names Brazilian midfielder Manchester United should sign

Manchester United are willing to wake away from Manuel Ugarte unless Paris Saint-Germain lower their demands for the defensive midfielder.

The Uruguay international is seen as an upgrade to Casemiro, 32, who underperformed last season to the point that no-one seems interested enough to take him off our hands this summer.

Selling Casemiro would’ve granted United more money to spend on a replacement. He is set to remain at Old Trafford due to a lack of interest in his signature.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, United are now looking at other midfield options since talks with PSG about Ugarte have hit a snag.

That snag stems from PSG’s €60 million demands for Ugarte.

Ben Jacobs has since suggested that Andre from Fluminense is a backup option for the Reds.

Moreover, respected South American football expert Tim Vickery believes that if Ugarte remains too expensive, United could pursue Andre as a cheaper alternative.

“They have been looking at Manuel Ugarte, Uruguayan, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain that’s going to cost a lot.. and United, their interest is cold because Paris Saint-Germain are asking a lot of money,” Vickery said on talkSPORT.

“It’s possible that United could enter the fray for Andre and pay a lot less for him than they would for Ugarte.”

Only time will tell who United sign in midfield, but Andre was also mentioned in the Stretty News list of Ugarte alternatives.
