Bid imminent: Manchester United set to make second joint offer for Bayern Munich duo

Manchester United are still looking to bolster their defence ahead of the new season.

The Reds are looking at centre-backs as well as full-backs and we’re less than two weeks away from the 2024/25 season.

According to The Independent, United are set to submit a second bid for Bayern Munich’s defensive duo Matthjis de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui ‘imminently’.

United’s approach to sign both players was turned after an initial joint offer.

Erik ten Hag previously worked with both players at Ajax and it is believed they would help significantly upgrade the defence ahead of the new season.

Mazraoui has reportedly turned down an offer to join West Ham because his heart is set on joining up with the Dutch boss again. He made just 19 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern last season.

Meanwhile, De Ligt has been a target for United since Ten Hag arrived in 2022 with the Dutchman desperate to bring his fellow countryman to Manchester.

The Reds need to sign a new centre-back after learning that Leny Yoro will be out of action for three months due to a serious foot injury.
