Manchester United make initial contact over Burnley star after turning away from Manuel Ugarte

Burnley are prepared to sell Sander Berge as Manchester United consider a move for the midfielder as an alternative to Manuel Ugarte.

There is very little a club like Burnley can do if United come knocking for one of their players. It’s even better that they don’t need convincing to sell that player.

The Clarets’ relegation from the top-flight had led to inevitable departures.

Meanwhile, Burnley fans will hope they can keep some of their best players between now and transfer deadline day.

Sander Berge joined Burnley last summer and his form didn’t go unnoticed, despite their struggles under former manager Vincent Kompany.

According to The Athletic, United are exploring other options after turning away from PSG ace Manuel Ugarte – with reinforced claims of interest in Berge.

United have already made contact with Berge’s representatives over a potential deal.

The report adds that Burnley are willing to listen to offers for their Norwegian midfielder, after making 37 appearances for the club.

Berge stands at 6ft 5in and Premier League records show he hit a top speed of 35.90km/h last season, ranking 10th fastest of all players last season.
