Three talking points from Manchester United 3-2 Real Betis: Rashford hobbles off after reckless tackle

The full-time whistle has blown at the Snapdragon Stadium where Manchester United beat Real Betis.

Three goals from Marcus Rashford (P), Amad Diallo and Casemiro saw the Reds come from behind to secure their second win since pre-season began.

While it finished 3-2 in United’s favour, Stretty News looks at three talking points from the game.

Amad Diallo shines

The Ivorian scored another superb goal to make it 2 during pre-season. He was a constant threat during his time on the pitch, adding a spark on either flank after being asked to switch flanks with Marcus Rashford in the second half. I’d go as far to say he has been United’s brightest player during pre-season.

Marcus Rashford injured?

A lot has been written about Rashford heading into the new season. He has looked sharp and that was the case again in the win over Real Betis as he scored from the spot after 18 minutes. Unfortunately, he hobbled off the pitch before the hour mark and Erik ten Hag was left with no other choice but to replace his forward. Rashford attempted to dance his way through the Real Betis defence, only to be stopped in his tracks by a defender who forcefully stamped on his ankle and foot. It was a reckless tackle and it is completely unforgivable that the referee let him away with it – in a pre-season friendly! After going down and slamming the turf, he was forced off. United will be praying it is nothing serious.

To make matters worse, Antony lasted 25 minutes before being forced off.

Casemiro was everywhere

The Brazilian looks set to remain at United for another season at the very least. That won’t be an issue if Casemiro performs next season like he did against Real Betis. The 32-year-old midfielder was everywhere, setting the tempo of the game and getting on the scoresheet to make it 3-1. He coasted against our Spanish opponents.
