Fulham progress with talks to sign Manchester United midfielder amid £20m offer

Fulham have stepped up their pursuit of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay after making a £20 million bid.

According to The Athletic, the offer does not meet United’s valuation of McTominay. However, they may be willing to do business at £25m, meaning Fulham stand a better chance of reaching an agreement if they pledge an extra £5m.

The London outfit previously offered £17m for the Scotland international.

A lot of these deals can include bonuses and stalled payments. United’s priority now is to sell players so they can make more additions before the transfer market shuts.

McTominay’s sale would go down as pure profit, given he is an academy player, but we shouldn’t forget the impact he’s had on the team as a utility player under Erik ten Hag.

The report adds that United are not actively pushing McTominay out the door.

Laurie Whitwell reports: “Fulham are progress with talks in the belief that McTominay is open to the move to get a fresh challenge and a more regular starting role. There is also interest in McTominay from Galatasaray. Tottenham Hotspur have been linked but are not considered a realistic destination.”

With just one year left on his United contract, selling McTominay makes sense but it will be a shame to see him leave the club for less than £30m.
