Trusted journo drops concerning United injury update, says fans should be ‘concerned’ about one player

Manchester United fans are anxiously awaiting clarification on Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro’s conditions after the pair were forced off through injury against Arsenal.

Following a season in which Erik ten Hag saw his squad completely decimated by injuries, there were hopes that the situation could resolve itself over the summer ahead of the new campaign.

Concerns were also addressed with two new signings; Joshua Zirkzee is likely to rotate with Hojlund in the No.9 role, while Yoro was acquired after both Raphael Varane and Willy Kambwala left Old Trafford.

However, the young Frenchman is expected to see his official debut delayed after sustaining a muscle complaint in the early hours of Sunday morning. While there are hopes Hojlund was a light knock and therefore, nothing serious, the same can’t be said for Yoro.

What one journalist is hearing about United’s injured duo

Footage emerged overnight of the centre-half wearing a protective boot on his left foot and limping while on crutches, and Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy has shared a concerning update on the teenager’s condition.

“I’ve been asked [whether that] should that be a concern [that the club are yet to clarify the duo’s statuses]. I think it is better for clubs to take their time when they’re doing these medical assessments. Swelling usually goes down after 24 hours, but it can take longer, so it is better to wait for the optimal time to do those assessments.

“There are also some times where you just want to have a second look; you’ve done the initial scan, you want the injury to calm down further and then do another one.

“However, I have to admit that supporters would be right to have extra concern around Leny Yoro and the injury he sustained because there seems to be – the feeling I get – from people around the club is that his is a lot more worrying.

“Rasmus Hojlund should be fine; he’s been in good spirits [and] we saw him in the mixed zone afterwards. He’s been active on social media. The players had a day off in LA yesterday, and he was able to go out and take in some sights.

“So, Rasmus, there is a general thinking that he’ll be okay – but Yoro is the update to watch. We did think today (Tuesday) would be the day we get the communication from Manchester United, but I have been told that nothing will be said on the injury front officially until Erik ten Hag addresses the media on Thursday.”
