Leny Yoro tipped to return in September after suffering metatarsal injury

Manchester United fans have been left in the dark over Leny Yoro’s fitness.

It remains to be seen if Erik ten Hag will answer any questions about his new French centre-back before his side take on Real Betis in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Yoro, 18, limped off the pitch after 35 minutes into United’s friendly against Arsenal.

Ten Hag chose not to speak at the pre-match press conference ahead of the Betis friendly. Instead, Amad Diallo took questions from reporters in San Diego.

Our latest major signing was pictured with the squad earlier, walking with crutches and wearing a protective boot on his foot. It’s a concerning photo to see ahead of the new season.

According to The Sun, Yoro will miss the first three games of Manchester United’s season, against Fulham, Brighton, and Liverpool.

The teenager appeared to suffer a non-contact ankle injury during the first half and limped off with assistance from a physio.

It is believed that he will be fit after the international break – in time to face Southampton on September 14.

The report suggests Yoro has sustained a metatarsal injury.

This is an injury that needs to be treated carefully and it would be naïve to rush him back after seeing Lisandro Martinez suffer setbacks with his metatarsal injury in April 2023.

United fans will be relieved it’s weeks rather than months.
