Andy Cole urges Manchester United to sign free agent amid Liverpool snub

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole would welcome the signing of Adrien Rabiot.

The experienced French midfielder, who has won 23 pieces of silverware throughout his career, is a free agent after leaving Juventus earlier this summer.

Rabiot declined a contract extension at Juventus to open the door to potential suitors, including Manchester United.

An interesting report from Italy claims Rabiot has rejected an approach from Liverpool as he is interested in joining United, as per Tutto Juve.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for years – dating back to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time as manager – but he is now available on a Bosman.

United are looking for a new central midfielder this summer, amid links to Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte. I’d argue at least two quality additions will be required if Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen are sold.

Andy Cole has always rated Adrien Rabiot

Cole has urged United to sign Rabiot on a free this summer. In an interview with Betfred, the former goalscorer recalls watching the French star as a kid at Man City.

“I remember watching him when he was a kid at Manchester City,” Cole said.

“He’s the same age as my son and they were both at the club at the same time. I could tell that he had something about him and was very talented. If the opportunity came around to sign him on a free, then why wouldn’t you consider it?

“He’s done very well for Juventus, he’s a mainstay in the French national team and it’s not easy to get in that side because of some of the midfielders they have. I think he’s a really good player and he would definitely improve what Manchester United have. Thinking long-term again, he would make Manchester United a better team and I wouldn’t turn my nose up at it if you can get him on a free. He’s a good player.”
