Manchester United welcome centre-back back to training after missing 3 pre-season friendlies

Victor Lindelof has returned to Manchester United training.

The centre-back has been absent from all three of United’s pre-season friendly matches, despite having the summer off, after Sweden failed to qualify for the European Championship finals.

Lindelof, 30, missed training ahead of the Arsenal game which meant he wasn’t part of the matchday squad for the 2-1 loss in Los Angeles.

Manchester United have now confirmed that Lindelof has returned to full training with Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Although Lindelof has been linked with a move away from United this summer, the Swede’s return comes at a good time for Ten Hag since Leny Yoro sustained an injury in the defeat to Arsenal.

Yoro was forced off after 35 minutes but we are still waiting to hear how long he will be out. However, it doesn’t look like the French defender will play any of the final two games of the US tour against Real Betis and Liverpool.

This means Lindelof can fill the gap by Yoro’s absence – along with Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans, while Ten Hag waits for Lisandro Martinez to return from his extended break having played a key role in Argentina’s Copa America triumph.

It remains to be seen if United will try to cash in on Lindelof. He has just one year left to run on his contract.
