Peter Bolton’s pre-season diary: Losing 2-1 to Arsenal at SoFi Stadium

Peter Bolton writes his diary from Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States.

We drove from West Covina to the new COSM centre (a fantastic new indoor arena) where LA reds were holding a pre-match function.

MUTV were recording ‘The Debate’ first, with Andy Mitten and Danny Webber. Then Mitten did a Q&A with Wes Brown followed by a Q&A with the superb Bryan Robson.

The FA Cup was there for all to see!

The SoFi Stadium was a 10-minute walk away, and it was big (70,000+) with concourses putting the Old Trafford equivalent to shame. It’s pretty new and has five tiers.

Similar to the other two pre-season games, Erik ten Hag played one team in the first half before completely changing things around with 10 new outfield players coming out after the break.

The final score of 2-1 was probably a fair one.

Being in the US, they had to carry out a penalty shootout at the end, with United running out 4-3 winners.

Over 60,000 fans turned up, with a 60/40 share in United shirts.

A very enjoyable day was had by all.

Now I have a couple of days ‘off’ to socialise – before we drive down to San Diego!

Part four of my diary will come after the Real Betis game.
