Peter Bolton’s pre-season diary: Long trip to LA where Reds face Arsenal

Peter Bolton writes his diary from Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States.

Thursday 25th

It was a long flight from Paris to Los Angeles – over 10 hours – but all went well.

I was picked up at LAX by my American friend Jorge, who drove me back to his house on the East Side of Los Angeles. We spent the evening relaxing with Jorge and his family. It was needed after such a long day and the eight-hour time difference.

Friday 26

Got a few tickets for United’s open training session at the club’s training base, at UCLA. We had to drive to the other side of LA for the training session, which lasted from 5pm until 7pm. As usual, they started late!

Loads of players stayed after the open training session and signed shirts for the locals. My American hosts really enjoyed the evening.

Tomorrow, Saturday 27

Matchday.

First, it’s a ‘pre-match‘ party @ COSM organised by the LA Reds.

Then it’s the SoFi Stadium, LA. Manchester United v Arsenal (5pm ko / 1am ko in UK) – Erik ten Hag’s side will be debuting their brand new ‘blue’ away strip.

I’ll post ‘part 3’ after I return from the match!
