David de Gea in talks to join Serie A outfit after year long spell as free agent

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is set to move to Italy.

The 33-year-old has been without a club since his contract expired at Manchester United last year, but The Athletic claims he is in talks to join Serie A outfit Genoa.

After being signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011, De Gea spent over a decade at Old Trafford, winning one Premier League title, an FA Cup, two League Cups and the Europa League. He made 545 appearances during a 12-year stint.

De Gea guarantees a wealth of experience wherever he goes.

The Spaniard had offers from Saudi Arabia and the MLS, but he decided to wait for the right offer and that has seemingly come from Genoa.

Genoa kick off the new Serie A season at home to defending champions Inter Milan on August 17.
