Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen says he is in “no rush” to find another club.
The Denmark international, 32, competed in the European Championship this summer but has returned to United for pre-season preparations along with his counterpart Rasmus Hojlund.
The experienced midfielder is about to enter the final year of his United contract. From the club’s perspective, they won’t want to Eriksen for another 12 months if he’s lining himself up for a free transfer at the end of the deal.
That may be a selfish way to look at Eriksen’s situation, but I think they have every right to be after he had such little impact on the team last season.
Eriksen found his game time reduced and he was an unused substitute in the FA Cup final. A year prior to that, the former Ajax and Tottenham star was influential as United won their first trophy (Carabao Cup) in six years.
There has been rumours about a potential return to Ajax, where he spent four years before moving to the first of three clubs he has represented in the Premier League.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Eriksen stressed he is in no rush to make ant significant decsions about his future.
“I am really happy at United,” he said. “I have had two very good years and am going into my third.
“It is a special club and a special place. Also my family is settled in Manchester, so I am in no rush.
“Obviously I want to play as much as possible and do everything I can. But that is nothing to do with the club – it is up to you and the manager.
“But in terms of how I feel, I feel very good at United.”
