Dan Ashworth sets objectives for Manchester United ahead of 2024/25 season

Erik ten Hag has been made aware of his remit by Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth ahead of the 2024/25 season.

According to The Guardian, Erik ten Hag is not under pressure to guide Manchester United to a top four finish next season.

The club is prioritising on-field performance and off-field standards. The powers above Ten Hag – such as sporting director Dan Ashworth – are demanding better performances with an understanding that all areas of football policy require repurposing.

All of this shows how bad things were when the Glazers had Ed Woodward and Richard Arnold steering the ship at Old Trafford.

United are aiming to establish sustained excellence and they will not appreciate a repeat of last season’s league form after United finished eighth last year, our lowest of the Premier League era.

With the help of Jason Wilcox as technical director, we can expect more demands on United’s style of play. They will want to see United play with a sense of identity after investing heavily on the squad.

United suffered 60-plus injuries that seriously affected the side’s performance, which is why we’re having a shortened pre-season this summer.

Last summer, United had eight matches throughout the summer. This year it’s six – including the Community Shield against Man City on 10 August.

Two new signings have been brought in this summer. Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee are two young players with a high radar, and they will be key players next season if they can stay fit.
