Manchester United have made some big moves in the transfer window this summer.

The Red Devils have managed to sign striker Joshua Zirkzee and defender Leny Yoro in order to improve the attacking and defensive options of the team.

More arrivals are expected as Man United look to sign a new midfielder and another defender, with the club also considering adding a new full-back.

Fans can expect a lot more arrivals and departures between now and the start of the new season.

Mason Greenwood, Donny van de Beek, Willy Kambwala have been sold while Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial and Brandon Williams have left after the expiry of their contract.

During the whole summer, one player has been constantly linked with Man United and that is Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Red Devils have seen two bids get rejected for the English defender but they are still determined to sign him.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has provided the latest update while speaking on The Debrief.

“The interest in Jarrad Branthwaite hasn’t gone away. At the moment, Manchester United don’t have the £70m+ that Everton require, and Everton may not even sell Branthwaite for £70m,” Jacobs said.

Man United face huge obstacle in their pursuit of Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

“The position is ‘we don’t want to sell.’ But if the offer is too good to turn down United would succeed and they would likely have to pay over the odds. Branthwaite to United isn’t looking likely at this stage.”

Man United should focus on de Ligt instead of Branthwaite

In order to sign the player, United would have to let go of some players first and raise funds for their transfer business.

The price tag of Branthwaite might prove to be too much for United and that is why they have also kept their eyes on Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt.

The Dutch international will be available for much less than Branthwaite and he is more experienced at the top level having played Champions League football regularly in his career.

It would be wise to move for de Ligt at this stage than target the Everton youngster.
