RB Leipzig advance in pursuit to sign Dutch star linked to Manchester United

Manchester United have been linked with a move for PSG star Xavi Simons, who appears to be on his way out of the French capital. RB Leipzig could see off competition from Bayern Munich by advancing with a deal.

According to reports, United have been working on a deal to sign Simons for the past year.

Sport in Spain continued the story by suggesting United were considering a proposal worth €100m.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims RB Leipzig are growing more confident that Simons will join them on loan for the upcoming season, though it’s not finalised yet. A permanent move the following year could be written somewhere in the deal with terms to be agreed.

Simons spent last season on loan at Leipzig, featuring in 43 matches across all competitions and proving himself in the Bundesliga. He scored 10 goals and registered 15 assists.

The former PSV Eindhoven star impressed at the European Championship this summer as the Netherlands reached the semi-finals before suffering elimination at the hands of England.

It doesn’t look like United are involved in a race to sign Simons. They may have watched him and expressed an interest, but it doesn’t look like United are willing to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to the playmaker.
