Matthijs de Ligt ‘agitated’ by Bayern Munich after rejected Manchester United offer

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a summer move for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt.

The Netherlands defender previously played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

De Ligt, 24, is understood to be keen on a switch to Manchester United this summer.

According to HITC, De Ligt is ‘growing increasingly agitated’ at Bayern Munich.

The deal appears to have stagnated in recent weeks and it may not help his case that United announced the arrival of Leny Yoro from Lille last weekend.

After verbally agreeing personal terms with United, it will come as a major blow to De Ligt if we don’t complete a deal to bring him to Old Trafford.

It was reported by German publication Bild earlier this week that United had seen a bid worth €35 million rejected for De Ligt.

Now it’s up to De Ligt to make it abundantly clear to Bayern bosses that they should accept the offer United made. There’s no point pricing him out of a move, is there?

United looking for a left-sided defender

Interestingly, the search for a left-sided defender may mean United are beginning to look elsewhere – away from De Ligt, who prefers to play on the right side of central defence.

According to Laurie Whitwell, United are sending a number of chiefs to the US tour while others remain in Europe to negotiate transfers. He adds that United are looking at left-sided defenders in the market.

New signing Leny Yoro is likely to partner Lisandro Martinez in the heart of defence next season.
