Man United shift focus towards 25-year-old midfielder as Manuel Ugarte alternative

Manchester United need a new midfielder this summer and it is not a secret.

The Red Devils have managed to address their issues in attack by signing a new striker in Joshua Zirkzee while defensive stability can be expected after the arrival of Leny Yoro.

Now, a new midfielder is needed at the club as the likes of Casemiro, Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen are all facing an uncertain future at the club.

Man United have targeted a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte but his price tag of €70 million is proving to be too much for the Red Devils.

According to Football Transfers, Man United are now considering a move for Sporting midfielder Morten Hjulmand.

The Red Devils have been impressed by Hjulmand’s quality of impressing in a side that likes to keep possession, which will suit United under manager Erik ten Hag.

The Denmark international performed well at the Euros this summer and he also scored a stunning goal against England in their group stage match.

His positional sense and discipline have been eyed as the key attributes that can help the Man United midfield next season.

Sporting’s Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand is being eyed by Man United.

It remains to be seen what decision they take regarding a new midfielder at Old Trafford.

Man United want a new right-back along with a midfielder

The report has also mentioned that the Red Devils want a new right-back this summer and ten Hag is keen on signing Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui.

United want to get rid of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and bring a more attack minded full-back to the club this summer and Mazraoui is available for just €20m.

A new midfielder and a full-back can be expected at the club and negotiations continue for Dutch centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.

With less than a month to go for the Premier League season to start, more activity can be expected at the club in the transfer market.
