Former Manchester United star set to join newly promoted Serie A side on a free transfer

Raphael Varane is set to join Como.

The former Manchester United defender is closing in on a free transfer to the Italian side, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Varane is set to join the newly promoted Serie A side on a free transfer, taking his vast experience to Italy, where he will be coached by Cesc Fabregas.

Fabregas obtained his coaching badges last week when he was officially confirmed as Como’s head coach.

The 2018 World Cup winner will sign a contract at Como until 2026, with an option for a further year.

Varane is set to join a list of new arrivals at Como this summer, including: Andrea Belotti, Alberto Moreno and Pepe Reina.

United sign Varane replacement

Last week the signing of Leny Yoro to Manchester United was announced.

The 18-year-old will replace Varane in the heart of United’s defence and he could do the same on the international stage.

Yoro has a bright future ahead of him and it says a lot that Real Madrid wanted to sign him. Luckily, United got the deal done before Madrid could act on a potential deal.
