Manchester United star linked with shock exit just one year on from transfer

One of the most surprising stories of the weekend saw Mason Mount linked with a move away from Manchester United.

The England international completed his transfer to United after leaving Chelsea last summer.

Mount, 25, struggled to settle in his first season due to injuries. The midfielder made just 20 appearances in all competitions, with 14 of those coming in the Premier League.

As a result of injuries and niggles throughout the campaign, the former Chelsea midfielder was unable to get a run in the team to earn a role in Erik ten Hag’s side.

A report from HITC claims United are ready to sell the midfielder due to fitness and form issues that hampered his first season at the club.

Graeme Bailey suggests that both Antony and Mount have been transfer-listed.

United could use Mount to help generate funds for additional transfers this summer. It is understood that Aston Villa, Tottenham and Newcastle are all interested in the player’s signature.

I think these reports are best to take lightly because Mount is one of few midfielders that doesn’t need to be looking over his shoulder this summer. He still has a lot to prove but it would be premature to give up on him after 12 months.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Mount deserves more opportunities to prove himself at United.

      1. There were two Masons on our books.
Don’t know about Mount, didn’t read anything about Chelsea being gutted to lose him, and of course he had scant chance last season to show what he can do.
Don’t think our new structure would be interested in him were he still at Chelsea; don’t think there’d be too many upset if he moved this Summer.

  1. Yes i agreed, that mount should go els where, to proof to man u that, he deserved to be in the team.
