Manchester United and West Ham explore cut price deal for Bayern Munich right-back

Manchester United and West Ham are reportedly interested in a move for Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui.

That is according to Florian Plettenberg from Sky Germany, who claims the 26-year-old defender is keen on a move to the Premier League.

Mazraoui, who plays for the Morocco national team, is thought to be available but only at the right price which will be determined by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

The report suggests Bayern would ideally like to obtain €30m for Mazraoui but the current market simply wouldn’t demand such a price, which means United could get him for cheaper.

Bayern will likely push for €20m-€25m but it is thought he could leave for as little as €15-€20m.

Mazraoui would provide competition as well as cover for Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese right-back was one of United’s most improved players last season, but he needs healthy competition if Aaron Wan-Bissaka is to leave this summer.

Making just 19 Bundesliga appearances last season, Mazraoui missed a lot of football due to injuries, which isn’t a good initial sign considering United had such a bad injury crisis in defence last term.

Only time will tell if it’s United or West Ham who show the most interest in acquiring Mazraoui.

Why are Bayern open to selling Mazraoui?

It’s not usually a good sign when Bayern Munich are willing to give up on a player like Mazraoui. He flashed at times, but injuries have proven to be a real hindrance.

I’m not sure how it would be any different at United?

He has competition from Benjamin Pavard and Joshua Kimmich. That probably explains why Vincent Kompany is open to the idea of cashing in on the Moroccan.
