Andre Onana excited by what new signing brings to Manchester United

Leny Yoro made his first appearance for Manchester United in a 2-0 pre-season win over Rangers on Saturday at Murrayfield, Edinburgh.

There were plenty of positives for United, but it was reassuring to see a new signing take to the pitch just two days after his transfer to the club was confirmed. Yoro had just one training session with his new team-mates, who are already singing the 18-year-old’s praises.

Amad Diallo scored in the first half, only for Joe Hugill to double our lead after the break.

Andre Onana made his first pre-season appearance and played 90 minutes against the Scottish side. He reacted to Yoro’s performance after the win.

“That’s why he’s here [he has lots of talent],” Onana said when asked about United’s latest signing Yoro, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “If you want to be a Manchester United player, you must have quality and he’s already shown himself in the first half. He’s young, talented, and good on the ball, so we’re going to enjoy him this season.

“He will [have the temperament], he will, and we’re here to help him. We’re going to give him time, we know he’s going to be alright and we have very good scouts here, so if they made him come, that means he’s got a lot of quality.”

It must come as a relief to Onana that he will now have a quick centre-back to play in front of him at United. That was not the case last season when our defence was depleted by injuries.
