‘I’m happy with my performance’ – Yoro reflects on first United appearance vs Rangers

Leny Yoro helped Erik ten Hag’s side keep Rangers at bay in a 2-0 friendly win on Saturday at Murrayfield.

It was Yoro’s first appearance for United since completing his transfer from Lille on Thursday.

The 18-year-old has only had one training session with his new team-mates, but that didn’t stop him looking comfortable alongside Jonny Evans for the first 45 minutes of today’s game.

Yoro helped United keep a clean sheet in his first appearance as Ten Hag’s side won 2-0.

“For me, it was incredible,” Yoro told MUTV after the game, as quoted by Sky Sports. “It was a really good game from the team. I’m happy with my performance and I hope we continue like that.

“The team-mates helped me a lot. The staff, they made me comfortable. On the pitch, we are together so for me it’s really good.”

The teenager showed his speed and strength to keep pace with Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers and prevent a potential one-on-one chance. He also showed calmness as he carried the ball out of defence.

In his first appearance for the Reds, Yoro managed more touches of the ball than any of his outfield team-mates. He completed a total of 48 passes.

These are all positive signs for the future as United begin a new, promising chapter.
