INEOS launch ‘forceful’ pursuit of standout Euro 2024 star before his £52m release clause expires

Manchester United fans have been pleasantly surprised at how efficient INEOS have been in their transfer dealings.

A successful hijack of Leny Yoro and a smooth transaction for Joshua Zirkzee has left Erik ten Hag with two young and promising options at his disposal ahead of the 2024/2025 term, with both deals being announced within four days of each other.

Just under two hours after Yoro’s unveiling, Fabrizio Romano announced that the club had agreed personal terms with top target Manuel Ugarte. The transfer expert already stated earlier this week that a midfield signing would be next on INEOS’ list when a centre-half was wrapped up, and last night’s update certainly proved that to be the case.

Elsewhere, it’s thought that United would – in an ideal world – add at least one more forward to give Ten Hag increased depth following last season’s debilitating injury crisis. Before the culmination of the Euros last Sunday, they’d been heavily linked with a move for standout performer Dani Olmo.

How Olmo fared in Germany

The Spaniard finished the tournament as a European champion, with his three goals and two assists proving integral to his nation’s invincible triumph. Such performances caught the eyes of a host of potential suitors – including both Manchester clubs – due to him having a €60 million (£52m) release clause embedded into his RB Leipzig contract. However, Olmo’s clause is only valid until July 20.

A fresh report from AS today claims United have launched a ‘forceful’ pursuit to try and hash out a deal for the 26-year-old before the buyout expires tomorrow, after which Leipzig will be able to demand whatever fee they please.
