Manchester United release Friday afternoon statement confirming long-term injury layoff to defender

Manchester United have confirmed this afternoon that youngster Evie Rabjohn has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament rupture.

As a result, she is poised to miss the majority – if not all – of the 2024/2025 campaign in what comes as a gutting blow for the 19-year-old talent.

Rabjohn suffered the injury setback while on international duty with Lionesses U19s in Lithuania, where she had played a key role in their European Championship campaign.

Ahead of England’s final group-stage fixture vs France tomorrow, the defender has flown back to England to start her rehabilitation.

Having signed from Women’s Super League rivals Aston Villa last summer, Rabjohn was poised to make her breakthrough into Marc Skinner’s first-team in the forthcoming season. She made one senior appearance in the Conti Cup in 2023/2024 and was also an unused substitute on several occasions.

The fans, the FA and United have all sent their well wishes to the teenager in hopes she can make as swift a recovery as possible.
