French free agent edges closer to Manchester United with Liverpool snub

French midfielder Adrien Rabiot is reportedly inching closer to sealing a move to Manchester United.

Some will say it’s been a long time coming. The former PSG and Juventus midfielder has been linked with a transfer to United for years. A deal was thought to be close in 2022 when former club chief John Murtough travelled to Turin for talks.

However, after becoming a free agent at the end of his Juventus contract this month, it seems a deal has become a possibility. The Italian side made efforts to keep the 29-year-old, but he is now available to join a new club in a Bosman deal.

French outlet L’Equipe claim a swoop from United can’t be entirely ruled out, noting that the player spoke with Erik ten Hag last year.

Meanwhile, journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin reveals Rabiot is getting “closer” to Old Trafford and that the French midfielder prefers United to Liverpool, despite having talks with the Merseyside outfit.

James Ducker from The Telegraph has done a separate return on the latest at Old Trafford, citing Rabiot links: “Talks over Ugarte appear the most advanced at this stage but there is some interest in the Real Sociedad defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who has just won the Euros with Spain, among others. Adrien Rabiot, the France midfielder who is a free agent after leaving Juventus at the end of last season, has also been linked.”

Rabiot made 31 appearances in Serie A last term, so he leaves Juve where he was a mainstay in the team. He registered five goals and three assists.

  1. Hello Adrian, Goodbye Antony (We Hope)!! Naaaah!! Adrian Is Too Smart To Come Here, Much As We Might Hope!! And No One Is Going To Be So Unintelligent As To Pick Up Antony’s Salary, Regardless Of How Highly he Regards his Footballing Talent, Because he Is Brazillian!! No One Else Thinks his Talent Is Brazil Special!!

  2. Exactly having Rabiot at United would be a great achievement more so it being a free deal.

  3. The toxic atmosphere that Raboit and his agent (mother) will bring to United are NOT welcome.
Just because he is free, is not a good reason to bring him to United.
Whilst Amrabat did not set the world alight, he has experienced a season in Manchester and if United can get another loan deal arranged, he would be the better fit.

  4. I was thinking Sir Jim Ratcliffe never want old players at united. All things been equal, I would prefer Amrabat, he understand the culture by now, let ugarter and Amrabat joine the squad, as balance team. Up man united up red devil.

  5. Yes Amrabat in the approach end of the season he showed what he can bring to the team so the team should consider bring back Amrabat than Rabiot.

  6. Liverpool are not interested in him. Snub hahahahaha. Do United fans really believe that any player would snub Liverpool for a mid-table, has-been club that has been destroying careers for a decade?

      1. Mid table? United finished above Liverpool the year before this one so pipe down.
