Manchester United have today confirmed the exit of midfielder Irene Guerrero, who departs Old Trafford after just one season of being a Red.
The 27-year-old joined United Women fresh off the back of being crowned a world champion following Spain’s World Cup triumph last summer, in which they defeated reigning Euros winners England 1-0 in the final.

She proceeded to make a mere seven appearances for the club, with only three coming in the Women’s Super League. Her outings in the division saw her rack up only 26 minutes on the pitch.
Guerrero did claim an FA Cup winners’ medal after United claimed their first major honour back in May, although it now looks as though that was as good as a parting gift she was going to get from Marc Skinner and Co.
Having now completed a move to Club America Femenil permanently, the Spaniard is one of a host of high-profile exits to bid farewell to United this summer. Mary Earps finally got her long-awaited exit when her contract expired in June, and the shot-stopper has since embarked on a new venture with Paris Saint-Germain.
Ex-skipper Katie Zelem, who’d been with United from the very beginning, also decided it was the right time to cut ties when her terms came to an end. She is currently a free agent.
Guerrero’s message to the United faithful
Taking to Instagram to announce the news, Guerrero issued a statement to express her gratitude to the fans, saying: “It has been a short but intense season.
“When I arrived in Manchester, I only had positive thoughts and immense excitement. However, in life, things don’t always go as planned. I am proud to have given my all for the club without expecting anything in return and I found your unconditional support, which made me strive and work hard to live up to the greatness of Manchester United.
“Not having the opportunity to show what I’m capable of, despite working hard and being professional every day, taught me to help my teammates from another perspective.
“It is sad to have to part ways, but I feel it is a necessary change both personally and sportively to enjoy what I am passionate about once again.”
She continued: “Thank you to all my teammates for helping me feel like one of the team from day one. It has been a privilege to share this time with you and make history together.
“Thank you to the fans for never stopping believing and supporting us at every game, home or away. I will never have enough words to thank you for your support.
“Wherever I go, I will carry you with me. But now it’s time to start a new chapter.”
