Manchester United working to make room for Manuel Ugarte; two midfielders with uncertain future

Manchester United are working on outgoings after completing their second major transfer of the summer.

Leny Yoro, 18, completed his switch from Lille on Thursday after becoming the most expensive defender in Ligue 1 history.

The centre-back becomes United’s second transfer of the summer transfer window. He follows striker Joshua Zirkzee, who arrived from Bologna, with United getting their business done early for once.

Shortly after Yoro’s announcement on Thursday, Fabrizio Romano broke the news that United have agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain and Uruguay midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The defensive midfielder would be seen as an upgrade on Casemiro in a position United need to invest in.

In a follow-up update, the Italian journalist adds that United are working on outgoings to make room for Ugarte. The players being mentioned are Casemiro and Scott McTominay.

Romano claims Ugarte is keen on the move, which is now in the hands of both United and PSG.

I don’t think many United fans want to see Casemiro at United next season. His performances last season, age and the fact he’s one of United’s highest earners. It doesn’t bode well and Ugarte is a clear improvement.

Saudi Pro League clubs are reconsidering making a move for the former Real Madrid star despite the midfielder being labelled a top target for several clubs in the Middle East ahead of the transfer window.

ESPN ran a report that talks already took place between the representatives of the Brazil international and Saudi clubs.

When it comes to Scott McTominay, I can understand why more fans would want to keep the Scotland international. It comes down to whether United get an offer of £30m+ for his signature this summer. Otherwise I’d keep him.

There has been reported interest from Fulham in recent days.
