Here we go Leny Yoro: Fabrizio Romano provides update as United close in on exciting transfer

Fabrizio Romano has given his famous social media green light – ‘here we go’ – for Leny Yoro to join Manchester United.

In what is already one of the biggest coups of the summer transfer window, the 18-year-old defender leaves Ligue 1 outfit Lille to sign for Manchester United.

It was seen as unprecedented that United would be able to fight off interest from Real Madrid. Unlike Liverpool and PSG before them, the Reds refused to give up on Erik ten Hag’s primary target for centre-back.

Romano claims the first part of Yoro’s medical at United has been completed with the deal in place.

This will come as a blow to European champions Madrid, who now must seek an alternative to Yoro in the market.

It is thought United eyed up Matthijs de Ligt as a potential fallback option, though the Netherlands international could still link up with his former manager, Ten Hag, this summer.

Yoro will sign a five-year contract at United valid until June 2029.

Documents are set with Lille and United settling on a €50m fee plus add-ons.

It also looks like Yoro will be able to go on tour with his new team-mates, which is another positive for Ten Hag ahead of the new season.

  1. I’m very impressed if this go through, but can’t help wondering how much of that 5-year contract he will actually serve. Once Ronaldo decided he wanted RM, it was all over bar the shouting, and this kid is arriving already wishing he was Madrid-bound. What Madrid want, Madrid get, even if it takes a year or two.
