Fabrizio Romano outlines Marseille’s Mason Greenwood plan

Mason Greenwood looks set to join Ligue 1 outfit Marseille in a permanent deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Marseille are in the process of planning Greenwood’s medical while the final parts of the deal are ironed out.

The two clubs have agreed a fee of around £26.7 for the player, but it will include bonuses and a high sell-on percentage.

Greenwood was sent on out on loan to Getafe last season but the La Liga side were never going to be able meet United’s demands. Marseille’s offer blows anything they could offer for the forward out of the water.

Greenwood set to break post-Sir Alex Ferguson era record

The Athletic claim Marseille have reached an agreement in principle with Greenwood ahead of a move to Stade Velodrome.

Should the move materialise, United would break a record from the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era by guaranteeing to make at least £23.3m profit on Greenwood, due to him being an academy graduate.

The next most profitable sale of the past decade is Dean Henderson’s exit from Old Trafford for Crystal Palace. Daniel James follows in third place.
