Alessandro Nesta reflects on new versatile AC Monza signing from Manchester United

AC Monza manager Alessandro Nesta admits that his new signing Omari Forson, a product of Manchester United’s world-renowned academy, is ‘shy’ but has lots of potential.

While it’s praise from his new manager, it’s also praise from one of the greatest defenders to come from Italy. The 2006 World Cup winner was unveiled as Monza manager on July 9 2024 and his first signing was a kid from Manchester United.

United received a compensation fee with the 19-year-old having spent the last four years in the Academy. However, attempts were made by the club to offer Forson a new deal after making seven senior appearances.

Forson’s first-team debut for United came against Wigan Athletic, when he came off the bench in the FA Cup third-round clash, becoming the 249th player to graduate from the academy.

Forson is a talented kid

The young forward went on to make four Premier League appearances and another two in United’s successful route to FA Cup glory.

However, it’s interesting to hear what Nesta has to say about Forson.

“He’s a talented lad,” Nesta said, initially, as quoted by Football Italia.

The Italian legend added some insight into Forson’s character too, admitting that he is shy but offers versatility in attack.

“He will slowly loosen up. He is left-footed, but he plays on the right. He can play as a winger or attacking midfielder.”
