Fulham join Turkish giants in race to sign Manchester United midfielder

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is attracting a lot of interest this summer.

Turkish giants Galatasaray have expressed interest in the Scotland international but it is doubtful they could meet United’s valuation of the player.

Galatasaray vice-chairman Ibrahim Hatipoglu has said discussions are ongoing about a move for McTominay, even though they are also considering a move for Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. He also dismissed suggestions that the Turkish outfit could move for United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

“McTominay’s transfer fee is being discussed,” Hatipoglu said, as quoted by Haber Sari Kirmizi.

“Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a good player, he has many suits, he wants to see all options.

“There is no talk of single-digit figures for right-back and midfield transfers. But we have allocated a budget of less than €10million for right-back.

“There is no negative situation regarding Guela Doue [Rennes right-back]. Negotiations are ongoing [for] McTominay and Doue. Wan-Bissaka is not our priority.”

According to Sky Sports reporters Lyall Thomas and Dharmesh Sheth, Fulham remain interested in McTominay.

The report adds that the United midfielder was their top target to replace Joao Palinha last year.

However, like Galatasaray, Fulham are also interested in Hojbjerg as well as Fluminense’s Andre.

United will have a decision to make if an appropriate offer comes in because McTominay has just one year left on his contract, but there is the option of a further year.

Most fans would be happy to see McTominay stay ahead of next season.
