Man United will have to pay £70 million to sign Premier League defender this summer

Manchester United’s transfer window has kicked off with the agreement to sign striker Joshua Zirkzee.

The Red Devils are ready to add more players to the squad this summer as the club is now looking to make defensive signings in order to sort out the defensive issues that the team faced last season.

One of the defenders that the club is targeting is Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, who has been away on international duty with England this summer and has helped the Three Lions qualify for the final of the European Championship.

Football Insider reports that Crystal Palace would demand a transfer fee of £70 million to sell the reliable defender.

It is still unclear if Man United will make a move for the England international as the club have also started negotiations to sign Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Jarrad Branthwaite.

A similar price tag is being demanded by Everton for Branthwaite, which the Red Devils are reluctant to meet.

It looks highly unlikely that Man United will agree to pay such a hefty amount to sign the Palace defender.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has been linked with a move to Man United.

However, there is no doubt about the quality that Guehi would bring to Old Trafford if he is signed by the club.

The defender has Premier League experience and his performances at the Euros this summer have been appreciated widely.

He has shown maturity at the back for England and in some games, he has been one of their best players in a star studded line starting line up.

Guehi can form a solid defensive partnership with Lisandro Martinez but whether manager Erik ten Hag is willing to make a move for the former Chelsea defender or not, remains to be seen.

For an estimated £18 million in 2021, the defender left Chelsea to join Palace and if the London club can sell him close to the amount they are demanding for him, they would make a significant profit on him.
