La Liga team have sealed the signing of Man United ace in a bargain deal

Manchester United defender Willy Kambwala is set to be sold to Villarreal after clubs reached an agreement on the transfer.

The 19-year-old Kambwala is said to have been hesitant to leave until manager Erik ten Hag told him he would be well down pecking order of the centre-backs at the club.

Kambwala debuted in the Premier League last season under Ten Hag, however he only managed to make ten appearances in all competitions.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Man United defender will leave the club in a permanent deal to join the La Liga club for €10m.

The Red Devils have included a buy-back clause in the deal to give them an advantage in the future if the Spanish club are interested in selling Kambwala.

Willy Kambwala is leaving Man United to join Villareal.

Given that Kambwala is a homegrown product, United would get the benefit of pure profit from the sale of the defender.

Kambwala would team up with Eric Bailly, former United central defender.

Man United squad has too many CB options

The club already have a huge centre-back contingent in Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof while United are currently working on deals to sign Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Jarrad Branthwaite.

If Kambwala had stayed at the club he would have seen minumum playing time and in order for more first team opportunities, he has decided to bid farewell to the club.

United will be keeping a close eye on the player and his development in La Liga with a view to a potential move in the future.
