Manchester United are lining up a late swoop to bring Xavi Simons to Old Trafford.
The Dutch playmaker impressed at 2024 as the Netherlands reached the semi-finals before losing 2-1 to England. Simons scored a cracker against the Three Lions to open the scoring, but Gareth Southgate’s side came from behind courtesy of Ollie Watkin’s late winner.
According to The Sun, Paris Saint-Germain are expected to loan Simons out for another season after the Dutch star spent a year in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.
The report adds that Bayern Munich are confident of agreeing a deal with the Ligue 1 champions, but that was before United signalled their interest.
United are seemingly keen on involving an obligation to buy, which could be worth around £70m.
Simons’ dream of winning the European Championship is over for another four years, which means he faces a big decision over his future with Bayern and United hot on his heels.
PSG are yet to decide on Simons’ future but the 21-year-old is eager for consistent game-time. This means there is a very good chance that he will depart the Parc de Princes this summer.
The French side re-signed Simons from PSV in 2023 for £5m but could make as much as £65m profit on his signature this summer.
Simons is the third Dutch player being eyed by United this summer after Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt.
