Man United receive major boost to sign defender as rival club change their transfer plans

Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Bologna attacker Joshua Zirkzee in what would be the first signing of the club under the INEOS era.

The arrival of a striker was expected since the club faced goal scoring issues last season and lost Anthony Martial this summer following the expiry of his contract.

Now the attention will switch towards signing a new defender who can partner Lisandro Martinez in the defense.

The Red Devils are eyeing a number of deals in the defensive department as they have been linked with moves for Jarrad Branthwaite, Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro.

The club have received a major boost in their pursuit of signing Lille defender Yoro after the club favourites to sign him, Real Madrid, are looking at other options in the market, according to AS.

The Champions League winners are making a plan B in case Yoro decides to move to Old Trafford this summer.

They are currently eyeing Lazio defender Mario Gila as the alternative to Yoro, should they miss out on signing the youngster.

Man United have received a boost in their pursuit of Lille defender Leny Yoro.

This shows they feel that the young French defender can choose the Red Devils over Los Blancos this summer.

The youngster has been linked with a move to United, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

The fact that the biggest clubs in the world want to sign him shows how highly he is rated in the game.

Real Madrid plan has opened the door for Man United

Yoro wants to join Real Madrid and it is well-known that his intention is to play for the La Liga and the Champions League winners next season.

With his contract expiring next year, Lille have decided to sell him this summer in order to recoup some money from his transfer.

However, Real Madrid are waiting for him to become a free agent and then sign him next summer.

This could give other clubs the opportunity to win the race over Madrid to secure his services.

  1. OK, so if we don’t manage to sign Yoro, clearly Gila is a decent alternative since RM themselves see him as next best.
There’s only a very few Clubs for whom players would prefer to sign than United, Real Madrid are undoubted predominant amongst these. So maybe target Gila, after all if we capture Yoro and he does well RM will come calling and he’ll be off, so let’s go for someone who might be around for some years.

  2. There is no point trying to sign Yoro, we need to forget about it and move on and try to sign someone else. Yoro has clearly stated that he intends to join Madrid, whether it be with them making a big for him this season or whether that means running his contract down this season and then joining Madrid next season on a free, he has already stated that is his intention, so why would anyone waste their time on a player that does not want to play for the club, this is all a result of UEFA BS anyway since United had already had an agreement in place with Nice to sign Todibo, both club and player had already agreed to the transfer before the end of last season, and it is only United winning the FA cup and subsequently qualifying for the Europa league that skittled that transfer because UEFA rules state two.clubs in the same European comp with owners having stakes in both clubs cannot complete any transfer business between them, which really is a stupid rule preventing player transfers, it really should be that the transfer has to represent fair value for the selling team and be what the market value for that player would be, if those conditions are met then it really is no different to clubs selling players to any other club regardless of the ownership, it seems like a stupid rule to flat out prevent transfers, I can understand not allowing transfers on the cheap between clubs with same owners, but to prevent fair market value transfers seems absolutely insane, I can see teams like city finding a way around this rule, maybe by terminating contracts or running contracts down until they leave on a free, something along those lines, seems that there will be ways around this rule really, at a cost but still ways to navigate around the rule.
