INEOS poised to ignore Ten Hag’s pleas to keep one player as they aim to cash in before it’s too late

Newly-appointed sporting director Dan Ashworth has a pivotal summer ahead of him at Manchester United, as does the rest of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s sporting structure.

Of course, the excitement for supporters across a transfer window stems predominantly from which signings the club could welcome to bolster the squad ahead of the 2024/2025 term. However, in order to ensure they have the maximum funds available, INEOS must sanction numerous outgoings in the coming weeks.

There’s been little movement regarding potential departures – only murmurings regarding a handful of Reds. It was revealed yesterday by Manchester Evening News that Donny van de Beek was in talks over a move, which will come as no surprise to anyone as he looks to put an end to a truly torrid tenure at Old Trafford.

Now, the hierarchy is poised to ignore Erik ten Hag’s pleas to keep one player in his squad and instead cash in on him before it’s too late; as per Football Transfers, INEOS are adamant about shifting Casemiro while he has interest from Saudi Pro League sides.

Now or never to cash in on £70m Casemiro

It’s likely the last chance United will get to recuperate a respectable fee for the experienced Brazilian. He’s now 32 years old and is undoubtedly past his prime, with his performances last season showcasing a significant drop-off from those the campaign prior.

When David de Gea departed in 2023, Casemiro became the highest earner on the books at United, pocketing a ludicrous £350,000 per week. You’d struggle to find any fan who believes he’s warranted such wages over the last nine months.

  1. Dispose of Casemiro and don’t sign Amrabat, bring in Manuel or funds permitting Joea Nerves or Gomas period
That’s the problem with Erik, what has he seen in Amrabat that we have not seen? Yet he can sit, reconcile and direct young players like Sancho, Rashfold and so he did to Varane!

  2. Never hesitate to sale unwanted players like Casemiro ,Amrabat and Sancho.
And players that don’t want to stay sale them too.But for Rashford draw him back put sense of maturity on him.

  3. Have we really forgotten how damn excited we were to sign the legend that is Casemiro? “ Tell them I’ll fix this”, and he did. Sure, not great last season, but who was? Garnacho, Fernandes, Mainoo of course, and then?
Remember the interviews when he left RM? Explained ‘ yes, but I’m going to Manchester United’ i.e. ‘ this isn’t the drop in my career you are suggesting. Wages are a joke beyond doubt – I didn’t earn in my 50 years what he gets every 2 weeks – but I’d like to think there’d be a role for him if more reasonable salary could be agreed upon. Proven winner, massively experienced, influence for the good on the dressing room, I mean: come on, what more do you want?
