Mason Greenwood turns down Ligue 1 outfit with preference to join Italian club

Mason Greenwood is reportedly in favour of a move to Lazio this summer.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Spanish club Getafe, but his future remains uncertain because he is not wanted back at Manchester United.

Getafe can’t afford Greenwood, but several European clubs are keen to secure his signature. They include Lazio and Marseille.

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Greenwood has identified Lazio as his favourite destination, as he feels well-appreciated by the Biancocelesti who are keen to give him a key role in the side.

The report claims Greenwood has already turned down a move to join Robert de Zerbi at Marseille and is hopeful that the Serie A club can reach an agreement with United.

Lazio reportedly made a loan offer with an obligation to buy Greenwood for €20 million in addition to a sell-on fee on a future sale. They are now waiting on a definitive answer from United, who we believe want €35m for the forward.

Greenwood is one of the many players United want to sell this summer to help raise funds for recruits. He is not part of the project going forward and the sooner we get the money in the better.
