‘Trying to hijack’: United make surprise 11th-hour swoop to prise sought-after target from Euro giants

Manchester United seemingly haven’t been able to accept defeat in their pursuit of Michael Olise.

Last Friday, the ever-reliable David Ornstein dropped a transfer bombshell that the Crystal Palace starlet had opted to join Bayern Munich over the likes of the Red Devils, Newcastle United and Chelsea.

United, in particular, are thought to be keen admirers of the player. A Premier League-proven addition like Olise would provide some much-needed respite to young Alejandro Garnacho, while also – hopefully – inspiring Antony to reignite the best version of himself and compete for a place on the right flank.

Reds try their hand with late Olise approach

Such reasons are seemingly on the mind of INEOS chiefs, too, as Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has revealed today that United ‘are trying to hijack’ the Frenchman’s move to the Allianz.

The Reds have tested Palace’s resolve with a late, 11th-hour swoop to try and prise Olise away from Munich, but are set to ultimately fail in their attempts; Plettenberg adds that the transfer is not in ‘jeopardy’ as the 22-year-old is adamant about signing a five-year deal with Bayern.
