Old Trafford task force decision expected by the end of 2024

Are we getting a brand new stadium or is Old Trafford getting redeveloped?

I have spoken to many fans about this in recent months, with a large section of the fanbase arguing to keep Old Trafford in some capacity. Most of those I go to games with are traditionalists and would prefer to keep our current stadium with improvements made.

Manchester United have set a deadline for the Old Trafford task force to conclude their findings, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The next steps of the project can begin then.

United announced in March that a task force had been created, and it would be chaired by Lord Sebastian Coe.

The report also claims that United initially planned to have a decision made by the end of the summer, but it sounds like there has been a minor setback of some sort.

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville joined the panel. He recently told the club’s official Utd Podcast: “I’m not one of those that says that. because I’ve watched football out there for 45 years that I need to watch the exact same players on that exact blade of grass.”

He added: “What I am absolutely certain of is that we need to have a stadium that is up there with some of the other great stadiums in Europe and in this country at this moment in time, Tottenham is the benchmark. It’s a stunning stadium, brand new, and we need to get to that level.”

Ineos have continuously mentioned that they want the best-in-class when it comes to everything at United. Only time will what route they will go down with the stadium.

  1. As much as I couldn’t see Old Trafford when I was in Manchester years ago, having a piece of the “old” so a ” fantastic ” NEW ” , could be built, has it’s charm for me. Sell Old Trafford brick by brick to supporters to help with new building costs. Tear down everything except a corner where the museum is (could be) and build a small building with all the history of MU. Recycle some of the Old Trafford steel, wood, etc. in this new building so “history” is still there.
