Manchester United are believed to be mulling over a move for Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah but may be deterred by the Blues’ valuation.
The Red Devils’ reported interest was initially revealed by the Independent on Thursday, with the Standard now further adding that while United want to sign the player, they may look elsewhere due to his £25 million price tag.
Chalobah, 24, endured an injury-plagued campaign for the Blues last campaign, managing just 13 Premier League appearances in total due to a long-term thigh complaint. He missed the entirety of the first half of the season before returning in February this year, proceeding to play a prominent role in Chelsea’s remaining fixtures, in which they only sustained one defeat.
United must avoid players who appear injury-prone
His fitness issues will have undoubtedly been taken on board by the United hierarchy, as they’ll be looking to do everything they can to avoid another debilitating injury crisis like the squad suffered over the past nine months. As such, the Reds are on the verge of appointing Arsenal’s ‘highly-respected’ physio Jordan Reece, whom the Gunners are reluctant to let go.
Reports have suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen on implementing a homegrown signings policy at Old Trafford, and Chalobah, a graduate of Cobham Academy and former England youth international, fits right into that bracket.
