Jose Mourinho set to form reunion with former Manchester United midfielder in Turkey

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly signed a two-year deal with Turkish side Fenerbache to become the club’s new manager.

Mourinho was sacked by AS Roma in January and there had been reports that he was willing to return to Old Trafford in the opportunity presented itself.

The Portuguese manager had been in charge at Roma for two-and-a-half years, joining the Italian giants six months after being sacked by Tottenham. He guided the Serie A side to two sixth-place finishes but won the Europa Conference League in 2022.

However, the opportunity to return to United didn’t arise and it never should. We’ve already experienced the turmoil of Mourinho at United and it wasn’t worth it for a stint of short-termism. At least the Europa League triumph was memorable.

According to Sky Italy reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, Mourinho has reached an agreement with Fenerbahce and is expected to sign a 2-year contract at the club.

This means there could be a reunion on the cards for Mourinho and Fred, who he brought to Old Trafford in 2018.

Fred made 35 appearances in his maiden season for Fenerbahce, scoring three goals and recording eight assists from midfield. The Brazilian received seven yellow cards and was sent off once.

Fenerbahce finished second in the league to rivals Galatasaray last season. Mourinho will now replace Ismail Kartal as manager.

Kartal signed a one-year contract last June.
