Video: Unblurred CCTV footage as Roy Keane scuffles with Arsenal fan after alleged headbutt

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane gestured towards an Arsenal fan during a Premier League match to “meet him outside” after “banter turned more aggressive,” a court heard on Thursday afternoon.

Scott Law, 43, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of common assault against Keane relating to an incident that occurred on September 3 last year.

Keane was attending a match between Manchester United and Arsenal at The Emirates, working on the Sky Sports punditry panel with Micah Richards. The former Republic of Ireland international was left in shock by the incident.

The former United captain was allegedly headbutted through doors by Law.

Law’s defence team claim that CCTV footage from inside the Emirates Stadium displayed Keane elbowing the defendant in the face.

As you can see from the video, it’s a stretch to call it an elbow to the face. It’s also a weak defence for someone who had just headbutted Keane through a set of doors and he was lucky that Richards stepped in to calm the situation.

The court was shown a custody photo of Law from September 4, 2023, in which he appeared to have an injury to his nose.

Footage of the incident went viral following the match last year.

The trial continues and may be solved on Friday.
