Kieran McKenna likely to stay at Ipswich Town amid Chelsea & Manchester United links

Ipswich Town fans will be buzzing to hear Kieran McKenna is expected to remain as manager with talk of a new deal for the exciting coach.

Kieran McKenna has been linked with a move away from Ipswich Town ahead of the 2024/25 season, but the former Manchester United coach is set to sign a new long-term contract at Portman Road, according to The Athletic.

There has been a lot of talk about Kieran McKenna in the past week, after being linked with the Chelsea job. The coach, who stems from Northern Ireland, has also been linked with jobs at Brighton and Manchester United after becoming one of the most highly regarded coaches in English football.

Chelsea are in the process of closing in on the appointment of Enzo Maresca from Leicester City, as per The Guardian, and Brighton could return for former manager, Graham Potter.

At 38, you can easily see why United fans would be hesitant about the idea of McKenna becoming manager this summer. We’ve already got Erik ten Hag and it’s still very early days in his career.

McKenna has led Ipswich back to the Premier League for the first time since 2002 after back-to-back EFL promotions.

This news will go down well among Ipswich Town supporters who would have feared losing their manager to Chelsea, Brighton or United this summer.

As far as we’re concerned, the sooner United back Ten Hag the better, but there’s still reason to doubt that they will keep the current manager.
