Owen Hargreaves backs Manchester United star to double goal tally next season

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves is backing Rasmus Hojlund to score “25 to 30 goals” next season.

The Dane scored his 15th goal of the season – across all competitions – on Wednesday night, helping United secure three points against Newcastle at Old Trafford.

His goal halted a three-game goal drought and Hojlund was only on the pitch a few minutes before he found a way to beat Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

Hojlund was named on the bench, to rest him for Sunday’s trip to Brighton and the FA Cup final, so Bruno Fernandes, back from injury, played as a false 9.

The Denmark international came off the best to confirm a much-required three points despite Lewis Hall’s late consolation.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Hargreaves said (via Manchester Evening News): “He seems to have a real spirit about him, he’s a bit of a Viking and I like that. When things get tough you need players who will fight for you and he will do that They need to get players around him who will create chances because I think he can score 25 to 30 goals next season. He just needs to be playing consistently, stop taking him out and resting him, if he’s fit give him a run and let him get to know the other players and build partnerships.”
