Brentford head coach Thomas Frank says it is “flattering” to be linked with the Manchester United job, amid constant speculation over Erik ten Hag’s future.
A report from The Telegraph on Tuesday suggested Frank is now a ‘strong contender’ to replace Ten Hag at Old Trafford. The Dutchman is under mounting pressure to keep his job and there are more managers emerging as potential successors.
Speaking to Danish publication Bold, Frank said he’s flattered to be linked with becoming United manager in the future: “First of all, I think it is flattering and a recognition of the work I’ve done. And I’m glad that others are noticing the work we are doing at Brentford.
“But, having said that, what goes on at Brentford is not a one-man show.”
Frank joins a list of reported candidates for the United job that includes Thomas Tuchel, Gareth Southgate, Graham Potter and Robert De Zerbi. The latest report comes as United sit eighth in the Premier League table with two games left to play. We are also in danger of missing out on European football next season.
However, INEOS remain tight-lipped on Ten Hag’s future and this has led to more speculation. That means we’re likely to see more reports of this kind between now and the end of the season.
The Brentford manager added: “I am really happy where I am. It is close to being the perfect club to be at. I can see myself being here for many more years.
“I am close to the owner, to the sports director, everyone around the club. Brentford is a club where I really feel at home.”
