Amad Diallo gingerly walked off the pitch in the closing stages of Manchester United’s defeat to Arsenal, sparking concerns over his condition as the side approach their final fixtures of the campaign.

Given that the 21-year-old missed the first half of the season with a serious knee injury, fans likely thought the worst when he was sat on the pitch, clutching at his knee and signalling that he was unable to continue.

It came around the 70th-minute mark of Amad’s first Premier League start of the term, with Antony being called upon to replace him as the Red Devils saw out a deflating – but expected – 1-0 loss to the Gunners.

He took it upon himself to ease fans’ concerns tonight, though, sharing a post on X (Twitter) to clarify his issue.

“The knee-to-knee in the first half bothered me in the second half. Otherwise I’m fine.”

Amad had undoubtedly been United’s standout performer throughout his time in action, so provided Marcus Rashford hasn’t returned to the squad on Wednesday, it would raise eyebrows if Antony is preferred to Ivorian against Newcastle United.
