Manchester United player ratings as Casemiro & Eriksen prove their days are numbered vs Crystal Palace

Erik ten Hag’s side left Selhurst Park with their tails between their legs tonight.

Manchester United’s away end gave the club pride on the night as they stayed behind to acknowledge their failing players in full voice, rallying behind them every more ahead of an FA Cup final at Wembley.

The Reds were given a schooling as Crystal Palace eased to a 4-0 win.

Tonight’s defeat means United remain eighth in the Premier League and our hopes of qualifying for Europe are diminishing. It was made worse when Michael Olise seized on a poor error from Casemiro by finding the back of the net.

Jean-Philippe Mateta left Jonny Evans for dead and thumped past Andre Onana to make it 2-0 before Tyrick Mitchell made it three.

United-linked Olise scored a sensational fourth to complete his brace on the night.

Ten Hag’s team has now conceded 81 goals in all competitions this season.

Players ratings from Selhurst Park as follows:

Andre Onana – 4

Sloppy passes out of defence. Conceded four goals, albeit not all his fault. Didn’t look a bit commanding. Should do better for Mateta’s second goal, as well as Olise’s second.

Diogo Dalot – 4

Made some important defensive contributions which tells you the result could’ve been worse. Offered a touch of threat going forward but nowhere near enough to challenge Palace’s wing-backs.

Casemiro – 2

That performance will scar the Brazilian. The sooner the season ends he can plan his route out of Manchester. It has been depressing to watch him struggle this season, but tonight he reached a new low.

Jonny Evans – 4

Called into the team with a few days of training under his belt. Not ideal for a 37-year-old. A few shaky moments.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 3

Struggled with Olise.

Kobbie Mainoo – 4

Wanted to play football but looked isolated in a team of strangers. Not helped by having no legs to support him in midfield.

Christian Eriksen – 3

Passenger.

Mason Mount – 4

Few nice touches but let down by his passing in transition. The former Chelsea midfielder never got going tonight and will put his fifth Premier League start for the club down as another one to forget.

Antony – 2

Non-effective.

Rasmus Hojlund – 4

Had little service but needs to do more.

Alejandro Garnacho – 5

A livewire on the left for United. Annoyed the Palace fans, which is always a plus.

Subs

Sofyan Amrabat – 3

Came on to sure things up but was booked for an unnecessary challenge on Olise.

Amad Diallo – 5

Replaced Mount late on so we could argue he didn’t get enough time to have an impact on the game. The Ivorian looked more interested than some of his teammates.

Ethan Wheatley – 4

Worked hard.
