Jadon Sancho was pressed on his future at Manchester United for the first time since departing on loan in January, and as expected, he kept tight-lipped on the matter.
Last night, the 24-year-old showcased a performance that United fans never had the pleasure of witnessing across his two seasons at the club.
It came on perhaps the biggest stage, too, given that he lit up the pitch for Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
Niclas Füllkrug was the only goalscorer on the night after he drew first blood inside 40 minutes, but it was Sancho who reaped all the plaudits following the full-time whistle – and during it, if you were watching on TNT Sports – for his scintillating shift.
The first half saw the winger complete more dribbles (seven) than he ever recorded in a United shirt, and he didn’t show any signs of slowing down after the interval.
Sancho went on to notch 11+ take-ons by the time Anthony Taylor blew his full-time whistle, making history in doing so by becoming the first Englishman to achieve such a feat in a single Champions League game.

Later that night, he was called over by Jamie Carragher for an impromptu post-match interview with CBS Sports.
Peter Schmeichel put the player on the spot by audaciously asking if he was ‘staying’ at Dortmund, but Sancho was wise enough to not feed into any speculation over his future. He simply responded: “I really don’t know. But I’m focused on just the present right now.”
Last month, Erik ten Hag was quizzed on his loanee’s impressive form over in Germany. He told reporters: “I follow international football and follow the players on loan at other clubs.
“It was a fantastic game, Dortmund against Atletico Madrid, a great performance from Dortmund and for Jadon it’s good news. He made his contribution to the result for Dortmund.”
