Manchester United have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise all season.

We will soon see if The Reds’ interest in Olise will materialise with a formal inquiry, but ESPN believe United are frontrunners to sign the 22-year-old, who has a release clause in his contract that becomes active after the end of the season.

The report adds that INEOS has identified Olise as a key target ahead of the summer transfer window. With Aaron Wan-Bissaka linked with a move away from Old Trafford, it could make sense to propose a player exchange deal with Palace since United are trying to restrict spending for sustainability and profitability rules.

James Olley reports: “It is unclear exactly how much a deal to sign Olise would cost but the figure is significantly higher than the £35 million ($43.7m) clause in his previous contract. One source put the amount between £50m and £60m.”

Olise is understood to not be deterred by United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Chelsea showed an interest in Olise last season but fell short of activating his release clause, which only applied to Champions League clubs.

Another Premier League club linked with Olise is Liverpool amid the likelihood of the Scousers having to replace Mohamed Salah at the end of the season.
